There is confusion about what GPL means. Joomla for example is touted as "Free software" something people can download, install and configure ... for no charge. Pause to think about this... FREE. There are very few things in life that are free, and in the area of Information Technology, I can think of nothing that is free.
There is NO shortage of information about what GPL means. But there is also no shortage of how many people have no idea what GPL means. As we are producers of open source software, it's important that we do something to help explain what all this means.
Sure, you can download and install Joomla without payment. You can jump over to the Joomla JED and find many components, modules and plug-ins that are also GPL which means it costs nothing.
Nothing is free when it pertains to total cost of ownership.
